WHAT?
You say you haven't heard Maysa Leak's voice before? Oh, yes you have!! Now
think back. Remember "Deep Waters"? I thought you did. She recorded
that song with the jazz funk band, Incognito, and she's gone non stop ever
since.
Maysa's career
began with none other than the phenomenal, Stevie Wonder, on the soundtrack
for the film, Jungle Fever. Maysa recorded three of her own albums; the first,
self-entitled cd includes, a great mix of silky, slow jams--"Sexy",
"Alone at Last", and a socially conscious song, "Can We Change
The World." Although I love all of her music, my personal favorite is
"What About Our Love". Not only does Maysa lay down more than a
few super, sexy cuts, she can also belt out some up-tempo tunes that will
lead you straight to the dance floor to get your swerve on! Check out her
version of Gil Scott Heron's "The Bottle on her second cd, "All
My Life" and "The Pressure". You won't believe your ears when
you hear Aria "De La Mia Vita", every time I hear this song, I still
can't believe that it's her voice. My disbelief became a reality when I saw
her performance on a jazz cruise over the summer. Maysa was trained in Classical
Voice Performance, which led to her degree from Morgan State University in
Baltimore. She has wowed her fans with her most recent breathtaking cd "Out
of the Blue," which is out of this world! The entire cd consists of smooth
love grooves that can take you to a place you'd really like to go. For starters,
"I Want You," "Right Here Right Now," "Everything,"
and "Thank You" put you in a soothing romantic mindset; the beginning
of an evening full of love, burning candles throughout the room filled with
rose pedals all over the floor, and the mildness of a sweet scent that puts
you in the mood for. . . Well, you know.
Will Downing
joined Maysa on the single, "Simple Life." These two incredible
voices are destined to meet again. She presents her inspiring rendition of
Earth, Wind and Fire's "Keep Your Head to the Sky," and Sly and
the Family Stone's, "Family Affair". Maysa has also collaborated
with artists such as, Pieces of a Dream, Jonathan Butler, and a host of others.
Maysa's soulful,
velvety voice, the sexy lyrics (which by the way, she has penned some of them),
and her loving spirit make you just wanna go out and love somebody! Thank
God for computers and the information highway; Maysa is a humble lady who
truly appreciates the love of her fans; in return she communicates with them
as often as time allows. Check her website at Maysa.com and let her know what
kind of vibe you get. Maysa and her fans would love to hear from you!
