It is his love and life that Asaph Womack
wants listeners to experience when listening to his album.
Full of rich vocals and smooth production, "My Love,
My Life" is one of the finest R&B albums released
this year. Released on GaSoul Records, "My Love, My
Life" takes listeners on a real journey.
Asaph grew up in New Jersey. His musical
influences consist of some of the most dynamic artists of
our time. Donnie Hathaway, Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder
are on the top of his list. Asaph started singing at a young
age. His training stems from the church, some of the best
training an aspiring singer can have. In fact some of his
greatest influences are gospel artists such as Donnie McClurklin
and Yolonda Adams.
His influences of R&B/Soul and Gospel
are evident on "My Love, Ly Life". However many
people may know him as a house singer. Not long ago he released
a house song called "Shelter Me". "Shelter
Me" gained a lot of airplay internationally as well
as domestically and really helped get Asaph's name out there.
And although Asaph is still a house music fan and will probably
create more house in the future, he was eager to let the
public hear him flex his R&B skills.
Production
for most of the album's tracks was done in house by Asaph,
himself, along with his partner, Gil Small. Together Gil
and Asaph created a label, GA Soul Records, through which
the CD was released. And one listen to the songs on "My
Love, My Life" and it is obvious that Asaph and Gil's
production skills are nothing to be messed with.
What really stands out about the album is
the raw emotion that Asaph brings to the table, lyrically
and vocally. He tells stories of love found, love lost and
love yet to come. He digs deep into his own emotions and
let's us all inside. With songs such as "I Tried it
All", "I apologize" and a personal favorite,
"You're the One", Asaph let's the ladies know
that he is not afraid to tell what is in his heart. In fact
he let's the ladies know what is in the hearts of all men,
even the ones who may not say it. And on the cut, "Key
to My Heart" he tells a story of heart break, and with
every note we all know we've been there before too, and
we can relate with Asaph.
In
support of the album Asaph will be touring and performing
around the country. So be sure to try and catch him at one
of his shows, because an Asaph Womack show is one you don't
want to miss. In fact he has also landed a spot on Soul
Train, for an up coming episode. But after all the promotion
is done, it is the music itself that will draw listeners
to buy the album. "My Love, My Life" is a must
for music fans who are in search of the new R&B king.
